Plant-based cheese from La Fauxmagerie, London

We were very lucky to have a present of some vegan cheese for Christmas from La Fauxmagerie and we went today to pick it up. Although it took a while to travel to Shoreditch, queue at the shop just off Brick Lane, and travel home, it was worth every minute. It is amazing cheese and I now understand the 20 minute queue!!

I’ve had fake cheeses before, supermarkets are getting pretty good at their offerings and I use a lot of Violife in cooking but I wouldn’t have dreamed of sitting down to a plant-based cheese board to eat with crackers, it’s just not that type of cheese. But I was wrong, the right plant-based cheese can be eaten with crackers or even on its own, it’s delicious.

We had Shamembert, Veganzola, Minerthreat, and Farmhouse. The Shamembert was the most like cheese in texture and taste but the other three were pretty amazing too! The texture is a bit odd on some, more like soft cheese, but the taste is sublime and so cheese-like! I would highly recommend it, although maybe wait until after Christmas as the queue might be a little shorter!
